Criminal defence lawyer, admitted to the Quebec Bar in 1989, Me Giroux holds a Doctor of Law from the University of Montreal.
She has a strong practical experience and principally works in criminal law. She also works in immigration law.
A founding partner of the firm Monterosso Giroux Avocats, which she founded in 2004, Me Giroux now directs the firm Marie-Hélène Giroux Avocats since the retirement of Me Monterosso. She possesses a real expertise in criminal matters, particularly in matters of murder and serious criminality, organised crime, extradition, economic and financial crimes, as well as on appeal before the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court, and in extraordinary remedies.
She was a prosecutor with the Bureau de lutte à la corruption et à la malversion of the Director of penal and criminal prosecutions from 2012 to 2015, where she piloted major files in matters of fraud and corruption. Since 1995, she teaches as a course lecturer at the Faculty of law at the University of Montreal.
In 2011, she received the Robert Sachitele prize, given to the lawyer who gave a remarkable performance in the accomplishment of a mandate of defence.
